i've broken a new record for myself...

so yeah, i've accomplished something today that i didn't even thing was possible. while working on a sewing project today, i accidentally sewed through my finger. yes, i learned; it is possible, because i have done it. i may be the only person on the planet who has done it, but i have done it.

i was doing something rather tricky, and the fabric kept wanting to move, so i was trying to hold it in place with my finger, and all of the sudden, my finger hurt dreadfully, but when i tried to jerk it away, i realized i couldn't -- because there was a great big needle in it. this was also the time i realized my foot was still on the pedal, and that i should probably take it off.

after pulling the needle out (it went all the way through), i still couldn't pull it away, because there was thread in it! so i had to cut the thread and actually pull it out. thankfully, it was just one stitch, so it wasn't too much of a headache.

if i'd had the presence of mind, and hadn't been reeling in pain, i should have taken a picture to post for you, my faithful readers. i'm sure you would have been thrilled (insert sarcasm here). you are lucky, though, there is no pic of thread coming out my finger.

for crying out loud though, i've been sewing since i was thirteen, so more than half my life. you'ld think i'd do something that stupid when i was just beginning.

oh well, whoever i was making the item for, i can truly say it was made by blood, sweat, and tears.

you made me gasp! poor nora! i have seen that happen in high school sewing class. it is amazing it never happened to me... even though i am sure you are a totally competant seamstress, i cannot say i am surprised it happened to you. i will never be surprised anything happens to you.

get well soon!
