Close to Home...

In a town close to mine, there's a high-school senior named Aaron who was in a very bad car accident last Saturday night. He wasn't even able to get out the car, but he called his girlfriend to tell her he was hurt; his girlfriend's step-dad went out to find him right away. It was a good thing he did; by the time the dad got there, the car was on fire, and he just managed to get him out of the car before it went up in flames. Unfortunately, Aaron's back was severely damaged and he has no feeling below the waist, and he might never walk again. :(

I don't know Aaron personally, but my heart goes out to him and his family right now. Four years ago, Nick (my fiance) was in a bad accident as well, that left him with a broken back. Doctor's told him he'd never walk again, but he's living proof that miracles still happen. He's walking -- it wasn't easy, but he got there.

Anyway, I love Nick, but I still will never know what it was like for him to go through that. But I do know that he's probably the toughest, strongest, bravest person I've ever met.

But I know that such an event would be earth-shattering, and my heart really goes out to Aaron and his family. I just wanted you all to pray for this kid, that God will work another miracle. He needs all the prayers he can get.

You can check on his status at this site:
