the adventures of mr. mum

Nick had a bit of an adventure the other day while I was at work. He had to take the dog and the cat to the vet. Of course, he also had to take Clay.

"How is that going to work?" I asked him.
"I don't know. But don't worry," he said. "I'll figure it out."

I didn't have time to worry about it; I had to get up for clinicals at 5am, then go to work after that. In fact, it totally slipped my mind, until I called him to tell him I was at work. Unfortunately, it was just when he was *trying* to get out the door.

He got a bit, er... shirty with me. "I'm trying to get a dog, a cat, and a baby out the door, and I'm supposed to be there in ten minutes!" he said in an exasperated voice that said, "what am i doing?!".

"I'll let you go, honey," I said sweetly, picturing him attempting to get everyone in the pickup truck. "Have fun," I said, amused.

"Bye," he said, not seeing the humor of the situation.

I called later to see if he had survived the episode. "Oh, it was fine," he said calmly. "Why?"

"Oh, I just wondered how you managed."

"Well," he said. "It would have been nice if Monty's cage had been screwed together; it fell apart when I tried to pick it up."

I try not to laugh. I cough instead. It doesn't work. "Oh," I say, trying not to choke. "I cleaned it out and forgot to tighten the screws."

"Well, you could have told me," he says.
"I forgot," (which was a valid defense, since I had forgotten.) "Well, I'll remember to fix it next time," I said.

Right. somehow, I don't think there'll be a next time -- at least, not a repeat episode of Nick trying to bring the dog and cat and baby out all at the same time.

At any rate, the shots are up to date, and with any luck, everyone will stay healthy.

OTHER STUFF...

As for me, another LONG week is over... and I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. Wednesdays and Thursdays are long days, because I have clinicals from 6:30 am to 12:30pm and then work from 3pm to 11pm... and I have to commute an hour to work and clinicals. So its up at 5am, and in bed after midnight on those nights, so am a bit tired today.

Have to get a lab done tomorrow morning, as I've been having some numbness in my hands and feet. Doc thinks it could be diabetes or a B-12 deficiency, so I have to remember not to eat or drink anything after midnight tonight. Not too much of a problem, since I plan to fall in bed as soon as I get home tonight.

Either that, or its another tumor on my neck/spine, so will have to get an MRI on Monday. Am hoping its the lesser of the evils and not the worst case scenario. Don't really have time for surgury, but then again health problems are never convenient. Guess we'll wait and see.

soooo, anyway, that's all for now.
