an update on me...

Nick has been gently reminding me to put a decent entry in this blog for a long time... its high time I do.

Yesterday was interesting. I was driving the truck, and pulling out of a parking lot, when this dumb kid on a bicycle (who was riding on my left) crossed the parking lot right in front of me, without looking, to get to the right. I slammed on brakes, the dog (who was sitting in the passenger seat) flew to the floor, the drink I HAD JUST GOTTEN at Wendy's flew from the console and splattere everywhere, soaking my purse and checkbook. The kid was old enough to know better; he had to have been at least 12. Either that, or he was a really fat and tall six year old (an age where you would expect something like that).

Oh well, I think it did scare him; he probably wet himself. I almost had a heart attack. At least I was able to stop in time and didn't turn him into a human pancake.

So, I go to the gas station, clean up the spilled drink and get another one. But then, they are doing construction at the intersection, and people that are generally good drivers start driving like maniacs, pulling out in front of you when they are at the stop sign and you aren't. After avoiding a second near collision, I got to the green light; but the turn lanes to get to the interstate were closed (for construction) so you had only one lane in which to go strait and turn. Of course, people don't use signals; that would be too easy, so I get stuck in the intersection, and the light turns red, so i have to get out of there -- fast! Again, my drink flies from the console, and so I gave up and drove home thirsty.

I hate construction. Our town is ripped up by it; the whole main road is gone because of it, creating lengthy detours throughout the town. So, while I try to avoid it, I have no choice in my town; because I have to go through two detours in a town of 1,000 people -- just to get home. I live about half a mile away from the town's outskirts -- where the construction starts. So I have to drive completely through town now, just to get to my house.

But all the neighbors (who have absolutely no way of accessing their driveways (for three blocks) have to park on the side streets. But that means that there are cars lined up along both sides of the street by MY driveway. This makes backing up a truck fun. :P But I'm stil luckier than my neighbors, who probably hate construction even more than I do. It would totally suck to bring home groceries... especially in the rain.

The ironic thing is, the town board had promised us that they would only do one stage of construction at a time, but that didn't happen. It's been crazy. Remind me not to re-elect anyone that's on the town board right now.

Other than that, work is good -- I've been given the job of activities director at the Assisted Living place where I work, so that's alot of fun. Brought Monty in the other day to visit the residents and they all just loved him. The dog of course, laps up all the extra attention, so had a ball.

Have been tired from all the extra hours, but money always helps, so I can't complain. It's good to have the jobs! :)

The only bad part is I don't have alot of time to write to everyone, so you probably wonder what I'm up to. Not much besides working and arranging to get the house and pay off bills. :P Sounds exciting, huh? :P

Well, will write more later. :)

Good News!!!

Well, haven't posted in ages; don't have alot of time with new job, but Nick has his visa now, so will have no hitches in getting here and we can go ahead and get the house! :)   He got the visa yesterday, but was actually approved on the 27th. Very happy here - he'd had his interview scheduled for Sept. 2nd, but then wrote to them and asked to get in sooner, if possible.  They re-scheduled for July26th, so that was a real blessing how well things worked out for us.

We can go ahead with the house now, and are working with the realtors. Thanks everyone for all your prayers and thoughts.    Can't wait until the wedding!!! :D

Hope to see you all there.

love,

Nora
